Default Best bike insurance.

As above. My son has just bought his first motorbike (Honda VT125 Shadow). Do any bikers on here have any motorcycle insurance companies to recommend. He will be 18 in about a month so is basically starting from zero.

Cheers guys.

Express insurance are cheapest but customer service isn't best.

Tell him to check out "thebikeinsurer.co.uk". It's like the other car comparative sites but I've found it to be VERY competitive.

When I started I found Swintons to be good.

carole nash without any doubt. deal direct as gave me a great deal and also my son on his 125. the first bike insurance company i stayed with after renewal. lots of freebies such as bike gear covered and breakdown. the bike, to be cheap on insurance, has to be in a locked, "brick built" garage overnight. if you have a full bike licence go on policy as a named rider. this knocks even more off price. also tell him to buy the best bike gear he can. this is the best insurance for any biker. my son did and has come off 3 times in 2yrs and thankfully uninjured (apart from pride) from memory i think full comp in his first year was around £420.

Thanks guys, will tell him to try your suggestions. Carol Nash sounds promising as 2 of you have mentioned them and will also give thebikeinsurer.co.uk a look.

I can't remember who I went with years back but it was through the bikeinsurer and was great.they gave me a renewal that was stupid so I went on again and it dropped to the point where it was never over £80 a year!!!
Good thing with bike insurance is you don't often make a claim as if he comes off etc it's most likely he'll be on his own without too many people about as unless he's completely mental wont be going too quick as 30 on a bike seems like 150 in a car!!!

I'm with Carole Nash - they weren't the cheapest but weren't far off the mark and the extra you pay is reflected in the cover they provide. Service is top class as well.

I've looked around every time renewal time arrives and always end up back with Bennetts..

and this time I had zero NCB as it was over 2 years since I last held insurance but was still the best overall package..
