Not sure if this one is an LSD? It is offers too........
Supra diff is cheaper than a 9" Ford motorsport 909.
More expensive than Quaife, ATB etc but much much stronger. Guess similar work for BARA to sort a diff whether its a Cosie for conversion or a Supra for rebuild. Its a matter of budget V's application.

Supra diffs (various ratios) through Cochyn - £185 delivered, who sources them all for Bara.
MK cover - £250, look at the group buy for all the spec.
Additional bolt on parts like flanges, top plate and rear wing brackets - doubt they will be £450 through MK Motorsport now the conversion has been developed and finalised, so cheaper for fewer parts. Just as Mark.
Bara rebuild - £400, including new seals and a Weir Performance MaxGrip Stage 1 LSD kit (providing you don't need new bearings, which most diffs don't. A lot of diffs don't need rebuilds, but sensible to do so).
So you're well in budget compared to a weaker Quaife on a smaller Cosworth diff. And really in budget when compared to a 9" motorsport diff. If you've spent well over £1k then you've been had or the diff you have was extremely poorly. For those that have stuck with the process from the start, well that just sods law really. The conversion needed to be tested on all levels to ensure its reliability, so money needed to be spent. At the end of the day, cars with less than 500 bhp don't need the cover and the original kit is adequate enough.

I wouldn't say I have been had for spending over £1k, I had my eyes open and asked Bara to replace everything so it was bullet proof so new bearings and seals it was, it was a considered choice with no pressure from Bara, I chose to spend the money and I guess it will serve me well. The car gets the best of everything.

Exactly, if you care about a few quid here n there then Cossies ain't for you, I truly think this is why Cossies get a bad rep, i hear all the time about 350bhp engines breaking boxes n diffs but people don't spend what needs to be done!

Seconded mate i mean you blow this supra diff its gonna be the same again less the fitting kit that could happen after a lap a week a month ect then all the other possible fails the cheapest thing in a tuned cossie? The air in the tyres

You can post whatever figure you want, but the facts remain the same. Good diff at a decent price, then the rest is just like I've posted above.

Mine cost me a 1K all in
Diff £150
Bara rebuild with Wier Kit (bearings were fine so no need to replace) £400
MK Fitting Kit £450
If you don't care about how it looks make yourself two little brackets to support the rear cover and that'll save you around the £300 mark on a uprated cover.

I know with performance things are only as good as the next weakest link and that this is still early days for the Supra diff but I am not going to keep splashing out if I can sort myself.
More info please..........

Same old passionford, can't post fuck all without getting jumped on. Alan how can you possibly argue I had to buy a second diff as the first was fucked and was going to cost more to fix so my conversion is nearing £1400 so its turned out not to be a cheaper alternative to a gripper.
#35
cossie fan (unluckerly)
They do work out more than the gripper and quaife. But the gripper and quaife still use the ford 7.5 inch cwp that is a problem if you have high torque and good grip. So the only other choice you have is the ford 9 inch diff and the supra kit all in is cheaper than that. You could also take the route rod has with the jag set up but I've no idea how easy it is to source the part and how much it works out
#36
Happily retired
I paid £20 (bottle of wine actually) for my Jag diff & £400 to have it fully sorted. Loads of them on ebay just source a 3.54 diff lock. My conversion cost £1700 all in but that included a new rear beam to take the Jag Diff. 16 years later we are still not talking about brackets or strengthening . For big Power its the solution. The drag boys use it because of its incredible grip & strength.

Plenty of folk use gripper and they work well its how much a rivearse you are, I still run a completely standard unit in mine and its fine as I don't do launch's and rolling burnouts. I went this route as it was expected to be relitivly cheap in comparison but ....... All imo of course

Any more info on these brackets as I don't give a hoot what it looks like and I have paid out enough initially then to be told its no good and you need to spend another £295.

hi
when I first did these kits in 2013 my mate bought a diff £80 ,then bought a kit of me £495 changed oil say £30 total £605 ,bolted it in his 520 bhp steve scott engine saff ,and drives it a lot with no mechanical sympathy and hasent broken the diff or cover in over 2 yrs ,I think its just the look of the draw if you get a good or bad diff ,and a good or badly cast cover .I know the diffs have gone up now but at £200 /£250 for diff and a kit still £495 you can have one in your car for under £800 ,and out of the prob 60/70 kits sold it has only been a few that have broken the cover I think
