Default focus 2.0 petrol very slow help please

my daily driver my 2.0 petrol focus has been getting slower and slower and mpg is well down when I bought it the car would average 35 mpg that is down to 26 mpg acceleration is well down I would say 0-60 is about 15 seconds it is sluggish and has no go in it at all I have changed the oil,and filter ,coil pack air filter as anyone any idea what else could be wrong with it before I scrap it my other car is a saab 9-3 cdti 150 and it leaves the focus for dead help please I am at my wits end

revs ok if it is stood still but once you drive it then it is bad a 1.4 would go faster

I've had similar experiences. My old escort gti would not rev past 3.5k which turned out the cat had broken up and blocked the exhaust. Also had a mk4 fiesta 1.4 which revved up to the redline which seemed fine at the time but had no power, that turned out to be a broken up back box. Once I changed the back box it revved much quicker. Best way to check if your exhaust system is at fault is to put your hand up to the tailpipe and feel the pressure coming out the back. If there's little coming out then I'd suggest looking into a new exhaust.

Get someone to rev it stationary and see if it makes a 'hissing' sound out the back, would show that exhaust is restricted.

You could try changing the fuel filter also

now had new cat and good used exhaust coil pack fuel filter air flow sensor plugs still slow and holding back

Is the air filter itself clear and fresh? These can cause a lack of airflow in which the car will put less fuel in,

Also, you not know anyone who could plug a code reader into it?
