so i got it in the barn this morning and up on the ramp.
it had a blow on the manifold which turned out to be the rear most manifold stud snapped off 3 threads down in the head !
it is smokeing a litte bit under boost only but it runs over 100 psi oil pressure 4k rev and above and it has no oil restrictor fitted ! turbo kit was fitted by abbey aswell in 2008 so not sure why that wasnt fitted but ive now ordered a 1mm restricted banjo for it.
it has a rattle at the rear which im not sure about but i did find it has a drop link looking thing on the anti-roll bar and it was loose i could easily rattle it around with my hand ! so tightened that up aswell.
but the main job was the broken stud today, took the downpipe off and got my centreing tool and used the manifold as my centreing hole, got a start point and drilled a 8mm hole with my new dewalt right angle drill, i then managed to get a 3/8 16unc tap in there and get a nuts worth of thread, ive put some exhaust paste between the gasket and manifold aswell i managed to work abit in there through the small gap where it appears it has warped slightly. i made a flat end stud so its threaded right to the bottom.
a spring washer and a nut and pulled it up, it appears that the exhaust paste has squeeqed out all round the bottom and the hks gasket still looks good so hopefully it wont leak. if it leaks again it will be manifold off which is gonna be an issue as the nuts are rusted on badly and being just m8s will no doubt snap some, fingers crossed it wont come to that.
some pics
if only nissan had used cat studs 3/8 unc they would never snap there tough old bolts.

thats had a lot of money spend on it jesus!
and as much as i hate coming on someone's thread and commenting on how i dislike a certain mod, i feel as it was the previous owners choice you wont mind as much. I too dont like the 34 spoiler on it. Being a Mines carbon piece i dont think you would struggle to shift it for a few quid mind.
get some videos up, i bet it sounds awesome!

cheers for the comments lads i love the spoiler tbh its another marmite thing i guess lol.
ive just checked oil pressure at the turbo oil inlet and its 60 psi idle hot oil but as soon as i touch the throttle it goes straight off my gauge at 85 psi ! defo needs a restricter in there. the stack rev clock is intermittent also im just about to have a read now and see whats what......
i found a test button and when pressed the tacho does a smooth perfect motion around to 10000 rpm then back to 0 so i guess that suggests the gauge itself is ok, it must be the feed thats the issue i just gotta try figure out what now, tbh electrics arent my strong point lol

it's not a test button
it's a Peak recal, will show peaks on all settings, so will show max rev/speed and so on

I'd keep the spoiler but cut the legs in half to lower it down, looks a bit of an afterthought now but I like the width not the height of it.
Stunning motor though,insanely jealous!!!!

i hate them stock but this one caught my eye
thanks hopefully abit more luck this time.
it works for me but not for most it seems lol
it would be a boring old world if we all liked the same stuff though
not sure what im doing yet but in the flesh i like the wheels.
looks like ive bought another marmite car lol
cosmetics for now are staying as is, what i would like to try is 2.1 bar of boost though that should comfortably see 700+ hp 500+ lbft
ah i see i wondered if they were problematic or anything, im loving it at the moment wether i still feel the same once the novelty has worn off we shall see ........

also have some dyno graphs from when the turbo was fitted.
i have checked the boost plot boost is 1.4 and 1.6 bar.
it has a bigger power band than the supra had aswell so thats a bonus just 150 hp/ 150 lbft short lol

I like the R33's, they are a nice drive. I had an R32 years ago with a few mods, nothing crazy but it was a rapid little car. I had to take many people on test drives.
I was never a fan of the R33's until I got offered a good deal on one, after owning it I was very impressed. The R32 always used to scare me on undulating roads or long sweeping bends, the rear wheel steer was shocking and I had many moments where it felt like I'd started some sort of drift when I hadn't. The R33 was much more planted and never felt
Ike that.

well i drove it last night.
no smoke from exhaust now rstrictor is fitted.
but i had bad wheel wobble and a banging comeing from the rear suspension.
the wheels have been balanced today and one is very slightly buckled, they said it will be fine but just needs to be run on the rear.
and the banging im hopeing ive found was where the spring seats the part it seats against on the top hat was loose against the top hat, so ive siliconed it in just gotta try it now.

well ive been pretty busy, the wheel wobble is now all gone drives perfect now, and the coilovers after my alterations i still wasnt happy with so i have now fitted some new meister r coilovers and all the noise and bounceing has gone, its still firm but alot more useable now on the road and its virtually silent
they are a unique coilover design aswell (to me anyways) as you can adjust the ride height without adjusting the springs base perch as the bottom mount is also threaded and adjustable, so ive set up the suspension to the exact position it was on the ohlins so as i dont upset the allignment as the car has been fully geo set up and ive still got spring preload.
the coilovers are available for a quite a few cars and i highly recomend them even the spring rates are excellent out the box, they appear to be one the best of the cheaper brand coilovers.
http://meisterr.com/
the sills where looking a little rusty so i cleaned them down, treated them and undersealed. ive just got to find a paint match for the under bonnet now, ive bought loads of grey paints but none match i may need to go to a paint supplier with the car and get a match done, other than that its just about done, im hopeing to get to santa pod with the car before the year is out, im very happy with the new car so far, it is effortless to drive i need to get the gtech in there and see how she fairs to the supra.

the r33 is much more comfortable for passengers aswell much much more rear leg room.
whats the number plates meaning for you mate ?
my ideal plate i want is C18 GTR or C88 GTR as my initials are CRB GTR for the car.

my rear spoiler on the r33 is the marmite like the front bumper on the supra lol
its a love it or hate it thing for sure
ive been sat here thinking about the car and the drives ive had it seems to be really motoring in 2nd and third gear to the point i hooked my sat nav up and check the speedo calc which turned out 1 mph out at 70 mph so near enough spot on, i like 1 mph overreading as i tend to sit at 75 mph in a 70mph limit.
now it was bought to the uk haveing a os giken gear kit fitted in japan but no proof of it, so ive just done a gear speed calc to check it.
all i know for sure so far is that i have seen 55 mph in 1st gear, seen 82 mph in second and seen 111 mph in 3rd and not hit the limiter once in the car yet.
the shift light was set to 8200 rpm and ive hit that once but still no limiter so i dont actually know where the limiter is, ive now set the shift light to 7500 rpm.
heres the gear speed calc for stock to os giken gear set, 4500 rpm is full boost according to dyno plot, 8000 rpm is the maximum i am going to rev to. red is stock, black is os giken gear set.
RPM 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th
4500 rpm 26 31 43 49 64 67 83 83 110 101
8000 rpm 46 55 77 87 113 119 148 148 196 179
they do a 3 or 5 gear set, i havnt checked fifth yet but the calc shows i definatley have the gear set 1 - 3
