Default B1600 PATS Ignition Key Transponder Signal

I've got a problem with focus which won't start, i've read the ECU which has come up with (B1600 PATS Ignition Key Transponder signal is not being received).

Does anyone have any ideas of how to solve this problem? I know the car recognises the key as the immobilisor light goes out, i get all the light on the dash but it doesn't even attempt to start.

Thanks
Mike

check the wiring on the back of the transiever(ring around ignition barrel) as these can break off or give bad connections
