the 4x4 tank was a ford service part that was listed to be fitted to 2wd's
The 2wd tank was pooh and cracked due to the turbo return feed
The 4x4 is a better design

I used a tyre valve on my 4x4 tank and made a small hole to fit it at the same place the original 2wd return hose should be.

Worked like a charm

Sounds like you have got a 4x4 hose this runs round the front pannel to link up to the metal turbo hose.
You can either shorten your metal pipe and bend it round or buy the 4x4 turbo metal pipe.
Even the 4x4 tanks don,t last that long ,I think alloy is the only answer.
I did have a 3 door a while back and I did the bolt in tyre valve mod to a plastic 4x4 saff tank which worked rearly well to link up to the original pipe across the top of the rocker cover .
I also machined down the water level sensor to fit in the lower outlet hole which also worked well.
Hope this helps cheers Tim.

Interested in your mod to '2wd' your 4wd tank - what do you do with the tyre valve - any pics? Thanks.

I think you can just do away with the cam cover hose and run a 4x4 hose round beside the slam panel?

Other option is Roose motorsport - They do a special hose that routes the same as your standard 2wd one, but has a larger end to suit the 4x4 tank.

Yea ive looked and i now know they have sent me a 4x4 cossie one, which does run slam panel and towards the back/side of turbo,my dilema now is do i do away with the water pipe that runs over cam cover,if so is it then an easy fit for the hose ive got?,or do i send it back and get a Roose one ?.

You'll need a 4x4 turbo water pipe as Tim mentioned to use the 4x4 hose. I'm unsure if the 2wd one could be cut down and used? Probably a bit of a botch job to do it that way lol.

The easiest thing is to get your 4x4 hose refunded from Autospecialists and buy the hybrid from Roose

Some 4x4 water pipes incase you go that route. (check which one would fir your turbo best though)

Although just found this on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sierra-Sap...item1c2be43a7b

Just double check it fits your turbo!

Good stuff

You don't need to remove the arch liner. The tank should be held in by 3 big phillips screws. As you look down at the tank from the front of the car one screw is at the top right beside the strut tower.

The other two are down the side of the inner wing opposite the inlet manifold and just above the map sensor bracket.
