Sounds like you have got a 4x4 hose this runs round the front pannel to link up to the metal turbo hose.
You can either shorten your metal pipe and bend it round or buy the 4x4 turbo metal pipe.
Even the 4x4 tanks don,t last that long ,I think alloy is the only answer.
I did have a 3 door a while back and I did the bolt in tyre valve mod to a plastic 4x4 saff tank which worked rearly well to link up to the original pipe across the top of the rocker cover .
I also machined down the water level sensor to fit in the lower outlet hole which also worked well.
