Hi, my coolant temp gauge in the dashboard is reading around the O when driving and when I turn the lights on it raises to the N, any ideas?
Cheers Jason
Seems hot for driving conditions. Have you tried a new dash temp sensor first? If its been changed recently, could be thermostat or a restriction i the rad somewhere.
Hi yep, brand new rad, new temp sensor, new thermostat, I wondered if there's an earth problem somewhere as when I put lights on the gauge rises
Has it always sat at the 'O' position when drving? mine sits around the middle to the bottom of the 'R' and fans cut in around the middle to the top of the 'O'.
Think it used to sit around the R but I've been rebuilding over the last couple of years so not been on the road for a while, think I should get a thermometer and see what temp it's running at
But are there any signs of it ACTUALLY overheating? The gauges on these are terribly inaccurate, I tend to find the ambient temperature makes the gauge read higher, even know in reality the difference in actual temperature is just a few degrees.
The fact the reading changes when the lights are switched on says to me you may have an electrical fault?
Hi, checked and cleaned up the earth points on the dash and now if I turn lights on it makes no difference to the temp gauge. Think I am going to get a different gauge or thermometer to see what the actual temp is
I had similar problem with my old rst. The gauges used to go up when I put the lights on. Trouble was it also used to cut out when you turned the lights on lol. That was an earth wire disconnected when changing leccy window loom

Going by that then you seem to have resolved the problem, have you not?
