Default Should my car have lambda sensor?

Hi i have a 1992 k reg saff 4x4 just wondering should it have had a lambda sensor from new? There's not one in it now but could that be down to having a mongoose exhaust fitted and no boos included in the downpipe? can't find any straggling wires for a sensor.

If the ecu needed(and had) one and now it didn't have it, it would run like a bag of poo, so if running ok I would say no.

If its a green top engine it would of had the lambda sensor mounted in the turbo exhaust housing as standard from the factory.

there is your answer, obviously the chip used was probably not capable of utilising the lambda sensor so it must have been binned.

but according to your sig yours has been live mapped lol, my guess is tabetha is refering to if the car still had the origional software, however even if it did and the lambda was missing i doubt it would make a massive difference to the feel of the car, possibly to the fuel consumption and the cats if they where still there.

check all the way along the bulkhead, it comes from the engine loom, over through the bulkhead under the abs unit, you should also have a purge valve by the power brake unit, connected to the carbon canister under the o/s wing.... via a vaccum hose

maybe, your car has had an older loom fitted, which didnt have a lambda....take the ecu plug off and make sure pins 1 and 2 are present and wired up.... one of these is lambda signal, cant remember which,,,,1 iirc

you can never assume a green top should use a lambda sensor, most tuners dont utilise closed loop,so its not needed when chipped....just like older L8 4x4s...

if the purge vallve is there and is plugged in, you have a green top loom, and should be able to find your lambda plug somewhere....

silky16v,
If you read the thread as I did it sounded like the question was asking if it should have a lambda and if someone had removed it purely because they had fitted a different exhaust, in which case I stand by my answer.
I am sorry I can't be as perfect as you, but I am too busy paying my bills.
