Default S2 mfi won't idle?!

So, after doing the clutch on my s2, everything refitted. Goes to start it and it won't idle. Checked everything, all plugs ok etc. It does start, but just won't idle, I'm having to blip the throttle so that it doesn't stall. Any ideas? Cheers

Check all your boost hose clips are nice & tight & it sounds like you've got an air leak if your still running the standard mfi fueling system

Years ago I did this on my S1, I had knocked the breather off that attaches to the metering unit, the turbo doctor spotted it in seconds.

What this man said .

MFI is sensitive to vacuum leaks. That hose is one to check as is even an iffy oil breather cap. Which breather system are you running?

Running standard system. Noticed that there isn't a vacuum pipe going to the pressure regulator. Where should this come from?

Some people used to hook it up to the inlet as a crude rising rate fuel pressure reg afaik.

I had same problem as you, wasn't idle unless i nudged the throttle, boost pipe was loose.

Something I didn't mention, after doing the clutch, I fitted a large front mount replacing the standard one. Would this of caused it in any way?!

The intercooler itself shouldn't but if the boost hoses haven't be tightened up properly that'll be your air leak causing the car to cut out

Was the intercooler new, could it have a leak? That's if all your hoses are tight etc.

Yea it's a brand new airtec so should be ok. I'll have to have a play with it at the weekend. I'll update if I find a solution
