Default Advise needed clutch slips when boosting

Hi, I am after some advise, my 1990 S2 drives fine until it boosts then the clutch slips in all gears but only when it boosts, you can drive it along the road at 30mph in 5th and it won't slip until it boosts, now I've spoken to the previous owner who had the engine rebuilt and put a new clutch in it and had the flywheel skimmed. But when he'd finished all that he then put a superchips ecu in it but he does not know to what point it was chipped to . Now my question is or questions rather are

1, should the clutch all be it a standard one be able to handle the power when it boosts if it is indeed new and the flywheel has been skimmed and the like.
2, if the answer to the above is no, then what clutch would you recommend, as far as I know all that has been done to the car is the chip, it's got standard airbox and there's no other bits been added.
3, if the answer to question 1 is yes it should then why is it happening and what can I check to try and sort it before the gearbox and the like have to come out.

Cheers

How we'll do you trust the previous owner for a start? Is it definitely a new clutch?

Is it contaminated? Causing it to slip prematurely? Is the clutch fully engaging/disengaging? All things that need ruled out first. Then I'd go and inspect the clutch?

You really need more information to make a decision.

I would say the bloke was very genuine, the car had been stripped to the bare shell and rebuilt with all the rust cut out with photos to prove and every single nut, bolt, and washer replaced, everything on the car was either new or refurbished, so I believe the clutch was done. When I brought the car it had just been finished and so it was to run in and that so never noticed that the clutch slipped until lid done a few miles then opened the taps abit more. Now like I say it only does it when it boosts when you boot it hard,
They are self adjusting clutches so i believe. How do I check it's engaging/disengaging properly.
I suppose if I can get hold of a standard ECU and fuel ecu I could put them on and check if it still does the same.

What power/boost are you running? A stock clutch will slip about 170bhp/ftlb IME, roughly 14psi on a stock engine/turbo.

Just to point out the chip does not control the power or boost directly, it simply removes the boost cut and in some chips has a revised ignition map.

This is what I don't know, I'd have to get it on a rolling road to see what sort of power it's putting out and get a boost gauge on it, I'm not mechanically minded but but am willing to learn and would like to try and sort as much as I can before sending it off and having to spend a fortune on it.
