tolerances are in the hanynes manual i believe. there is a kinda wire that you can put on a place you want to know the tolerance. It will become flat and the width stands for a tolerance. I don't know the name of em at the moment.

If you disassembled your engine you probably had something wrong. If something was wrong with the engine i would suggest putting a new on. There is nothing worse then building a engine and destroying it because you reused your pump. How was the oil pressure before the engine got disassembled?

Get yourself one of these if you don't have

Measure it, put it on, run it check oil pressure if any doubt about the oil pressure bin it and put a new one on. Ofcourse don't let it run too long if you doubt the pressure. There are a lot of topics about oil pressure at idle when hot.

Don't trust a electrical sensor, go for the mechanical onces

there is a high pressure spring available that will raise oil pressure to 22psi at idle.

where I could look at those springs?
the life of the pump will be reduced?
in renault, we stretch the spring pump, or put washers

Why do you need more pressure? Are you low on pressure now then? isn't there something else wrong?

What are your pressures at different rpm's?

You shouldn't need to add "false" oil pressure by adding a different spring. Running it as standard should be plenty and if it's not correct then I would say there is a problem. Adding a different spring may just mask the problem for a short period.

Saves a bit of typing. Just had a similar convo on another forum.

If you use a cosworth oil pressure switch too this will come on at around 20psi so sometimes the oil light flickers at idle which is a nice sign as you know the pressure and sensor are all working. If your driving and the oil light comes on at least you still have 20psi at least at that point and get a second or so longer to turn the engine off.

Where as if it was a standard switch at that point it would be very low pressure and more than likely makes more damage than what ever has already happened.

While driving it comes down to many factors like, pump, oil lines and remote setups, filter, etc etc..

as someone said it could be something else wrong but for the cheap cost of a spring it's worth doing anyway.

Burton high pressure pump is a BGA part (cheap) with a 10 quid spring fitted. Nothing great.

IMO That's a poor idea, a CVH at optimum running temperature (say after a half hour drive) will idle around 14psi meaning the oil light will be on all the time at idle... so if you do actually have low oil pressure you would never know.

Why will it be 14psi if the spring holds pressure of 22psi when hot at idle.

You should read more carefully and don't involve your self in everything that you don't quite understand.

My mistake, you were referencing using it with a high pressure spring, I hadn't noticed.
