Pain, ALL THE TIME...

sounds like stain on the muscle/tendoms
dont forget your working them harder then they probably have ever worked before at a constant level so theres gunna be some pain as the muscle begins to grow and adapt. this is where muscle memory comes in to play which is why keeping up a ruteen is important.
do some stretches every couple of hours nothing over the top just be gentle, as this all helps with healing and growth.
is its still giving you some trouble try the old hot cold trick as that'll help to.

COuld very well be joint pain Stu. If you have been training solidly for a few months now it maybe beneficial to have a week off or just go reallly light for a week to see if it goes away.

If it is muscular pain, there are a number of things you can do for quicker recovery.
Deep heat or similar, rubbed into the muscles can help. Especially if you wrap it afterwards. The hot-thing has already been mentioned. Recovery workouts a day or so after the workout can work. Basically a very light repetition of what youve been doing to get extra blood pumping around that area. Say youd had a heavy Bench press day, you could do 4x20 pressups or something. It shouldnt be strenous.
Sleep is also really important. I found that taking herbal sleeping tablets made me sleep loads better and recover quicker. Problem is, I dont take any caffeine, nicotine or alcohol, and it hasnt worked as well for anyone I know that does thats tried similar tablets.

well if u give your body a good blasting down the gym , yes u will ahe after the gym , but it should not be painfull, u have proberbly pulley a muscle or pulled a tendon.
protein will not take the pain away, u want to take some nosades ( ibroprofen ) take the swelling down. take 4 x 200 mg a day .
other than that restm it stu, do u know what movement u were doing to make this happen ???
Were on the shoulder is the pain exactly . front , back on the side , in the joint ???
or could u be over training, are u a gym begginer or have u been going long.
Do u know much about it really, ( not taklin the piss there mate )
just tryin to find out whats what really. they always teach u about clients knowledge and history

If it was me I would rest for 4-6 days and then go back to light weights and patiently increase the weight on the shoulder gradually.
A rest will actually do you good and let the body recover. You seem to have a quality programme which you follow religiously so a break will give your body a good kick when you return.
As you have a break comming up Stu and you would like to continue untill then I would try and avoid any exercise that puts a massive load on that area or just stick to very light weight with reps you can handle say maintain 3x10. Any pain and leave well alone and take the time off, or you could be doing more harm than good.
Keep an eye on the diet while you are off and don't let all that hard work slip away, I would also keep protein at 0.8-1g per pound to maintain muscle but you could cut back on the carbs as you will not be training.

all well and good mate , but pain is not a good thing when training , he really wants to get to the problem :
1. to not do it again
2. resolve it and learn from it
3. cure it properly
4. has he damaged anything so long term he will suffer ???
Ben
