Default HELP!! Ford Focus Wheel Nuts

Hi, I have a Ford Focus mk2 which I have bought new 18” ST aftermarket alloys for. I had steel wheels beforehand but I believe the wheel nuts I already have are suitable for alloys. Anyways, my question is how many turns of this type of wheel nut is safe in order to secure my wheels correctly you the studs? I am currently getting full 5 turns of the nut

The top wheel nut is tightened in as far as it was with my old steel wheels
The bottom nut is tightened in as far as it is with the new alloys.

The red line indicates how far the thread on the studs goes into the nut

This is how far stud comes past alloy. About 16mm which is 0.65 inch

This is what it looks like when nut is fully tightened (note the caps are missing).

I would be looking to buy some new wheel nuts mate that suit the alloys you have bought and have the correct taper to fit into the seat of the alloy. The thread looks a little thin to me and the last thing you need is for the nuts to sheer off and a wheel to come off whilst you are driving the car.

Thanks for the reply. I went to my local garage and he said it is safe enough the way it is. I have drove 1200 miles since and no wheel nuts came loose. I was passing by an alloy shop yesterday and he said wheel nut needs to turn on at least 7 times ( mine were on 5) so I bought 20 wheel nuts there for €40 and they twist on 9 times now.. not sure if the old nuts were safe or not but it is certainly a lot safer now. €40 is cheap if it stops an accident.

I wouldn't like to run those nuts in the picks, think you did the correct thing buying new.
