Default paint help needed please

hi people,

is it important to put a key onto a topcoat of paint before adding laquer? if so, what would i use? 1200 grit paper or scotchpad?
wouldnt it spoil the paint if i did this?

many thanks, alex

I assume you mean basecoat? If so then no don't touch it before lacquer. Any marks will show through and you'll have to start again.

If its base a and clear coat then dont touch it. you can flat the base then polish up for a perfect finish. If its solid you using then you van lightly flat inbetween coats if you can be bothered to wait for it to dry first, Or as with base, just half coat then full coat and wait to dry then flat and polish, easy
