Default mk5 1.6 escort alloy problems

Hey,
Ive just bought a set of what i was told to be 5 spoke rs turbo alloys. Same style to the dog legs but without the space between the spokes. Ive just tried to put one on the front to find that the back of the spokes are hitting the calliper and cant get them on properly. Can anyone tell me what size spacers i need? and if i will need to change the studs also as from what i can see if i put spacers on the studs wont be long enough. Im a bit of a novice to this so any help would be great.

The strangest thing is that i believe them to be rs turbo alloys but i cannot find any pics of them online anywhere. I really want to make them fit as they have been refurbed and painted gloss black and have brand new avon zv3 tyres on....and i only paid £45 for them so was a total bargain!

Below is a pic of the alloys ive bought. They do have a ford logo emobossed on the back of the alloy. The tyres on them are 185/60 r14's

Look forward to your replies.

from what i know they are the standard 12 x 1.5mm. try taking one of your wheel nuts into ur local halfords and match up the thread with the locking wheel nuts, on the top of the packs it'll tell u the size and thread.

cheers gaza.

Have now got the 12mmx1.5 extended studs with a 10mm spacer kit for the front....backs should be ok as only drums not discs as its the calipers causing me the problems. got new discs and pads ready to put on front too....only to now realise after all the hassle i need to get new wheel nuts too as been told i cant use the steely wheel nuts on the alloys!!! AAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!!

yea id recommend alloy wheel nuts not the steelies. also when you tighten the alloys up, dont use an air gun. use hand tools. the air guns iv bin told can crack the alloy where the back of the nut sits due to over tightening. not sure how true it is but iv always bin carefull since. you'll have to post up a pic once its done mate. im looking at getting some new wheels possibly this weekend, the rs2000 mk5 escort 5spokes. the dished ones. cant wait. have you looked at the escortevolution club? i had a mk6 1.6 mexico escort about 6months back. theres a few usefull tips on there and lenty of guys for tips. ah your only in basingstoke, im in farnborough.
