need advise (gearbox on s2)
fucking bollox
my gearbox is noisy as hell it sounds like its a cv joint gone you know the sound!!!but it is deffo coming from box
if i engage the clutch it does not go away only if the car is at a stand still?? could this be bearings
diff? or is the box most probabal fucked
also i might sound dull as fuck but the box is a rebuilt BC box with an uprated lsd and 1.8 diesel final drive
whats the 1.8 diesel final drive all about

nobody has told me where to get a box from?? i dont want a new box i am still trying to find out what is wrong with the one i got before i decide what to do next so i dont have to spend money unecessarily
i have been told where to get a clutch from which is something i did ask for. i have been told it could be the lay shaft bearing
if this is the case i can get that done for Ł50
but i am unsure cos as i said it sounds like a fucked cv joint knocking and its also wining.i have replaced the drive shafts today with new ones so it deffo aint cv joints.

Appologies then I was confusing you with someone else.
It could be a bearing, they get worn with age and use, then start to rattle round a little, then wear out the carrier where they sit. This then needs milling out and a bigger bearing putting in if its on the inner case, or parts replacing if its on the shaft.
Only real way to tell is to strip it and have a look around. If the box is off the car how much play is in the shaft ?
