Default problem since fitting rs 500 intercooler

i have recently fitted a rs 500 intercooler to my 2wd cossie , since fitting it i have got a loud chattering noise before the dump valve kicks in i was wondering if anyone has had this problem, it sounds like anti lag but its not that, it is running 19 psi of boost t34 turbo 803 greens 3 bar and 34 actuator i would be grateful for any advice cheers cosbag.

how many topics have been posted about the confusion between waste gate chatter and compressor surge now?? lol

It may be just down to the increase in charge air volume mate...but, have you checked that the dump valve aint sticking (in the case of a piston type)...and have you checked your vacuum pipes??

no...because it dont existed (spelling)....a wastegate cant chatter...its the compressor wheel which chop the air which is forged back trough te compressor housing..

As wimwerf said, compressor surge is the sound of the compressor wheel chopping up the charge air thats being forced back though it the wrong way when the throttle is shut mid boost

lol have you got an external waste gate fitted?? If not, then your hearing surge....a noise that many people confuse with waste gate chatter...something that you dont get with a normal integral waste gate.

Now awaits many conflicting replies from othe rPassionford memebers lol

Now your trying to re-open a HUGE debate on 'is surge bad or not'.....in theory its a very bad thing, it puts huge loads on your turbo when running high boost...but alot of tuners do run cars like that with out any short term problems evident. Personaly, I consider it a bad thing, I have a dump valve fitted but with a very heavy spring on it...it releases a little just to take some of the shock out but I still have the demented pigeon stuck under my bonnet sound as well
