Default Gearbox/Engine Matching

may soundl like a silly question but i don't know too much about Fords (yet)

I have a Sierra Sapphire 1.8 LX, a reconditioned CVH engine. I'm taking the engine out and selling it as i'll be dropping in a 2.9i V6 from the XR4x4.

I want to keep the car RWD, not 4X4, so.. could i use the gearbox from the 1.8 on the V6?

Any help would be good as i'm looking to sell the engine soon and want to know whether to sell it with or without the box.

Cheers.

The 1.8 gearbox will not fit the bell housing has a different bolt pattern, and the v6 will probably be to powerful for the 1.8 box, your better off trying to find a box from a 2.9 GLSi sierra, or using one from a 2.9 rwd granada. I hope that is some help to you!

yeah right enough, i was just thinking about the amount of torque it'd be able to handle.

Well that's great mate, i now know to sell the engine with the box, and now i know i can keep it RWD still!

helped a lot! thanks again!

kev.
