Default Anodised alloy????

Is it possible to remove the anodised finish on alli? Or can i get the anodised item re-anodised a different colour or even get it chromed?

All of the above, but you'll have to remove the original colouring first before chroming or re-anodising. You may aswell just polish the item!

Wet and dry paper will do it, the anodised colour is only a very thin layer.

And elbow grease then!! Is this the only method or is there a chemical method which would not only be easier, but do a better job?

Anodise isn't a paint, its a chemical reaction that changes the colour of the alluminium, but only micrometres deep.

I don't think theres any kind of chemical that will reverse this, but then again you never know. Try halfords or someplace like that.

Owen cleaner, lye, caustic soda, or something to open the plumbing will remove the anodization. Reanodization is also very easy to do DIY. Just a bit cumbersome with big parts. Chroming is very difficult to do oneself.

Agreed - Oven cleaner does a proper number on anodised ally... Used to use it on mountain bike bites lol

Then polish it back up with autosol or similar
