Default Funny idle.

I've got a 1.1l HCS mk3 fez which has an idle problem. It's idleing fine one minute and with out warning the idle drops until It's almost staling (It never actualy stals) and the battery warning flickers. It revs fine when this happens but the only way to fix it is to turn the engine off, start it up again straight away and it idle's fine again until abought half an hour later when it does it again. The cars been stood for a year and this didn't happen before I stored it, help.

Theres not a lot to the HCS engines, i think they have an air temperature sender in the underside of the airbox (its been a few years so sorry if im wrong). Other than that theres the ignition module, and thats about it i think. I personally would say its more likely going to be something to do with the carbeuretor, having been sat unused. They have lots of diaphrams etc, and perish over time, and these things also tend to seize/stick over time when not used.

Sorry i cant be of anymore help?

Thanks for the reply, I'll remove and clean the carb tomorrow and see what happens.

Chances are if it is the carb it will be something internal, if you have experience then thats all good, if not just be careful.

hello mate! It was the carb, I dicided just to swap the carb with one off one of my other fezy's and it now works fine. I'll get a carb rebuild kit so there's no messing.

Cheers, Chris.
