Ok, i've had a little explore now. Found the actual alarm unit and it's got A200 plus written on it so i presume that's the model of alarm.

The little black box i found originally is the sensitivity adjust for the ultrasonic sensors of which i have 2 and a strip across my windscreen that says "elscanner" on it.

I found another box which is the vibration sensor as well.

Also had a little play (not looked for the earths yet ) and the alrm appears to function correctly with the ignition on but it doesn't appear to be getting enough power when the ignition off.

Does anyone know if this model has it's own battery back up or not?

Appreciate the help

Phil

If thats the case with the ignition on, trace the wires from the unit and see what they connect onto, it may be the installation isnt fantastic. Actually that said any half decent alarm shouldnt even operate with the ignition on, for obvious reasons!!

Not too sure what to say now

Sorry, didn't mean it armed when the ignition is on as it doesn't. It's the only way to dis arm it sometimes and make the siren sound off properly.

I checked all the wires with in line fuses in (5 in total) and they're all fine too

Ah right ok. I'd follow those wires and see where they lead to, most of them will have ring terminals or similar on the ends, check theyre not loose/corroded/dirty, it sounds as if its an old alarm, thats not one im familiar with?

Have you tried searching the net to see if it has battery back up on the siren?

i'll have a look aswell. To be honest though, if chase all the wires, check all the connections etc there isnt real a lot else u can do, and if its still not playing ball after that it might just be on its way out.

Ive got the AI606 and thats been there current top of the line alarm for at least 5 years, yours must be a fair few years old, and i expect it had it fitted back in the day when they were the car to steal.

If you get no luck i might be able to pass you a number of someone that can help, i bought my alarm from him.

We'll see what happens. I've tried all the connections to the main unit so i'll see how it behaves

If it was any connections at all i doubt it would be the main unit ones, more likely to be connections to the main loom and bodywork
