Default WHY DO COSWORTHS MELT PISTONS?

HI, EVERYONE WHO CAN HELP. My mate is having a problem with his sap cos melting his pistons. He is very well aquiped with sensors and meters. INfact he has a AEM A/R and a APEXI safc to check his fuel. Everything was in order ie: HE had enough fuel flow and good fuel mixture but still his pistons where F****. Any ideas????

Too much ignition advance?

Air charge temps too high?

Could be a number of things mate - fuelling isn't the be all and end all...

And what do you call enough fuel flow, and good mixtures ?

Some people may have different ideas as to what is safe, and what isnt.

so the A/R is a wideband version and the knock was being watched by the SAFC as well. AT the time of melting was takingg over the piiistttonsss another mate was watching all the data on the laptop!!! Fuel flow there was and everything seemeed to be running well till pufffff( that white cloud from the back!!!!

Today we went to a local specialist and said that the problem was too much detonation. So we were arguing that our fuel is not good for racing purpose ( In fact it's not at all but octane improver was being added) So racing fuel with 109 or over octane will reduce the chance of the melting problem!

Leak mixtures melt pistons. Detonation breaks and melts them.

Any fuel can be used for racing as long as the engine is mapped properly for it.
