escort interior light delay relay
having found that this was also staying on all the time months ago and draining teh battery (which at first i thought was the only drain - see flat battery post ) i just removed it and was looking for a replacement one from a breaker/ebay etc...
while i was d1cking about with the alarm module, i thought i'd try it again and double ckecked that it was fooked - it was, but what i've done( which i didnt know u could do was to make a link acrosss where the relay goes in the box (R17) on the terminals shown...
the light will work as per normal car without the delay, BUT to my joy, the toad alarm also gives a 20 second delay off function to the interior light, so, when i disarm, the light comes on for 20 secs, or until i start the car, whichever is sooner everyone is a winner

mate sounds like your fuse box is breaking down, very common occurence on mk5's. could be wrong though but those relays dont usually play up?
have you got a part number or picture of it, and also pin the numbers on the pins on the bottom?

defo not the fusebox mate, its brand new.
defo the relay though, if u pull it out when its should have timed off, it goes off and stays off when u plug it back in, once u open either front door, it comes on and stay on forever even after the door is shut...
this is the kiddy...(in yellow.)
the blue one is the headlamp waser relay, this is also dead, im thinking doe to a spike of some sort at some time and its fooked the transistors up in them

does the headlamp washer relay even have transistors in it???
i know there is circuitry in the interior light ones, but all the headlamp ones ive come across are usually just SPST relays

not bothered about the interior light one now as it works anyway, the toad alarm had this feature built in, just that it was never apparent beofre due to the timer working in parallael with it.
the headlamp one is R22 above, phisically the same looking pin out, but defo not, the common,, live, switched and ouput are all rotated round

yeah i mean if u turn the relay over the pin outs on the relay are labelled with numbers, such as 15, 30 etc
can u take a pic or draw a diagram labelling the pins?
and i should be able to get u one

Right mate this buse boxs are very known as fault I mean they get damaged quite easy and they are expencive to replace for a new one so if you dare you can do what I did, open the box completly so you end up with just a cicuit board and with a soldering iron or gun and a good amount of soldering wire reinforce every little one of the spots that you can reach. Then obout you relay what you can do is replace the relay with something like the r18 pin If the worked for me that could work for you as well.

nah mate what I mean is that you have to remove the three plastic covers and stay with the actual cucuit board (the green thing inside the box) then do the soldering and then give it a try.

yeh, but ive made link exactly like the R18 link from the bits of the relay,
its now obvious that its not got a relay there, just a link as per any other escort, but i still have the same functionalaity as if it did due to the toad alarm
