Default Turbo damper for cossie 2wd T34

Just fitted a secondhand turbo damper to the mrs' cossie (hers had given up), but it doesn't sit right

The threaded bit and spring rest on the turbo housing at an angle which just doesn't look right, I can't see it lasting long.
It's not an acute angle, but you can see it bending slightly.

I have followed the workshop manual to fit it before you ask.

So, is the standard turbo tamper (sping version) suitable for a T34, or, do I need to get an aftermarket one ?
