Have a grinding sort of noise coming from the near side front only does it when i back off the throttle at low speeds, well i only hear it then?

Car seems to idle at 1500 when the car is warm and not sure why? could it be down to the crap diaphram dump valve and the crap vacuum pipe i have on it? Perhaps it has split would this lead to it idling higher?

 

m8 any air leaks would cause it to idle higher
split vac pipe or maybe plenum gasket is leaking

 

the idling was due to the diaphram being split.
