Focus ECU problems
My Ford Focus, 1.6 Zetec, 2000 plate, has a misfire problem. Two cylinders aren’t running with spark plugs 1&4 not firing. I have changed the Coil Pack and checked the wiring to the ECU.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Is it the ECU and do you know if it is repairable?

hi mate sounds like the coil pack had gone down and has spiked your module, with the ignition on you should have battery voltage in the middle pin of the coil pack multi plug and a switched earth at the other two pins one side will fire 1&4 and the other side will fire 2&3, you can check the earth is being sent by the module by using a side light bulb, if it flashes one side and not the other then as long as the wiring to the module is ok it the module itself. hope this helps.
Cheers for the info. Tried it and I'm now sure it's the module. The ECU has a 4 letter code which is PAID. Been trying to find an ECU with the same lettering and a chip from the key fob so I don't have to get the ECU decoded. Do you know if I can fit an ECU with a different code as so far I can only get one for same year and 1.6 with key fob chip but the code is JUDO! This must be wired differently but will it work on my car?
