Default Amazinq quote for having steam seals relapced

I was quoted nearly 600 quid for this on my 2wd cossie head. Found a company 2 miles from home who will do it for less than 100 quid including parts as long as i can supply them with the head, im not sure weather they will be using original ford parts but i may supply the seals myself.

What do u think of that......

easy enough if you've got the tool to do it so you don't take of the head

i said to you before that the head did not need to come off to do this , but you need a tool to do this , the price seems good but be carefull who works on your cossie as it could all end in tears , cheapest is not always the best

you don't need to take the head off to do stem seals as long as you can compress the valve springs and remove them with the head on.

you can do this by pressurising the cylinder with air and having both sets of valves closed if you have the right tool i made one by cutting up and old spark plug and brazing on a length of steel pipe and then a brass fitting on the end that i can connect to an airline.

you may also be able to do it by removing the cam belt, and moving that piston up to tdc so that when you press on the valve spring, the valve contacts the piston and can't move. i wouldn't advise it though, cos to remove the collets you normally have to give the springs a whack with a hammer to release them
