i have a s2 got it cheap paid £800 on a g reg. the problem i have is that it smokes on tick over and under boost worse under boost. the car has had a new t3 fitted (brand new) the piston rings were replaced 3 years ago but i did a comp test and each pot was doing 157..... my friend said that was ok but could it be possible that the oil ring have gone but comp rings ok going to do valve stem seals to see if that cures it but car due for mot in 4 days dont think it will pass with the smoke if any one has any ideas or have had the same problem and nose the answer i would be very greatful for your help cos the wife is having our first baby and its due in 5 weeks so i need to get it sorted before then any ideas will be appreacated thanx for the help robin

 

could well be the valve stem seals, if its smokes alot from cold start up then yeah,usually though when warm it smokes less if it is the seals.

also could be a ring, like u say.

 

thanx for your advice will try valve stem seals but failing that i think i will have to strip the bottom end out to do the piston ring thanx again

 

sounds like your on the right line changing the seals but if continues then yeah change the rings at least you'll have peace of mind
