when the throttle is opened the turbo/manifold whines like f**k

thought it was either a blown gasket or a cracked manifold

had both off replaced the gaskets and had the manifold checked for cracks which came back negative

i did have the turbo(gt2560) stripped down and there is no play in the shaft it had to be stripped down to be cleaned as the machine shop had to helicoil a thread and didnt seal the ends

what i did notice is that the compressor side of the turbo was covered in grease and this was cleaned and removed but wasnt replaced..........could it be the scrapping of metal to metal thats causing the whine????

think its time for a recon or new turbo

 

will your car not even boost?mine whined like fuk and wouldnt go past 0psi and im afraid i had to replace the turbo.my shaft had quite a bit play in it tho

 

it does come onto boost but only slightly
