Default 2.9 V6 into a Sierra Sapphire...

Right, we're about to embark upon a bit of a project here; we've got a rwd 1.8 sierra (j plate) and access to a complete g plate(?) 2.9 v6 automatic granada, we've also got a 5-speed manual box from a rwd 2.9 sierra (it's the weaker/less sought after box). The main question is this...how do-able is a 2.9 v6 into a sierra and what parts do we need??

Thanks in advance

Don't think it's that hard to swop the engine's as the xr4i's come with a 2.9 i think? You have to change the flywheel if your puting a manual box on. Should be fairly easy do

that's just what we were thinking, but we're not sure how similar an xr4i shape sierra is to a sapphire in terms of engine bay, transmission etc

Should be fairly easy do
and that's just what we're hoping...

sapphire was available with 2.9 and manual gearbox as both RWD and 4x4, although it did not sell in big numbers due to a very high price for what is basically a shit engine.

i wouldn't bother doing it unless you have a 24V engine, as the 12V runs out of puff very soon and only makes 150 bhp. i would prefer a tuned pinto 2.0i as it's lighter. put a couple of turbo's on the v6 and you might be getting interesting....

good luck with it though it's good to see any project

we've already got the sierra which needs a new clutch, got offered the granada for free so thought it would make a nice project and would be a fun way to spend a few hours. we might be able to get a supercharger for cheapish...
