Okay guys get your thinking caps on for this BIG problem i have, its a long story but i hope you can bear with me and sort me out

right where to start.....

Sunday afternoon i managed to get my RSi running for the first time in a year she was running fine and dandy for two minutes until one of the tappets decided to break and make the car sound like a bucket of bolts the tappets were the Kent cam solid adjustable ones which i have had a lot of problems installing and setting up so i was not too happy

On Tuesday i decide to replace all the tappets with new gen ford ones as theyre easier to adjust and are far better quality anyway i fit these, refit the rocker cover and then accidently drop the spanner i was using down the front of the engine and onto the terminal on the starter motor, where it becomes lodged, and starts to short out the starter motor (battery still connected) causing lots of smoke, melting the insulation on my battery earth lead and making my battery feel extremely hot to touch

And thats were my problem started.....

Today i took a trip down the scrappy to get a new earth lead, when i fitted this there was no life at the starter motor, so i replace the two connections on the solenoid as theyre looking a little singed (positive cable looked fine so i left it) still no life in starter so i get a new starter motor, its now turning over but the battery goes flat i charge it up, refit it and go to start the motor, it fires but it sounds like its only running on two cylinders and its backfireing into the inlet manifold

Still with me? ive replaced all the ignition components (coils, ecu, gearbox sensor) with spare ones which i know are working and its still running cr@p, theres a spark at every lead (though it does look a little weak) ive checked all the fuses, the only thing i havent changed is the big positive lead from the battery and the battery itself

SO WHAT HAVE I OVERLOOKED?!?!?!?!?

Anybody? come guys im so close to getting it running im not gonna give up now!

Help me out im begging you
