Default rebuilding zetec

Hi, i have a 2ltr zetec engine which for a variety of reasons has been stripped. I've decided to use this engine to try and start learning to re-build an engine.
Although i have the theory side sorted out, i know the practical side is going to be extremely tricky tolerances etc.
Basically i would like for you to post some general guidance for example "DON'T...... and "make sure you". Just things to look out for and things that i am likely to be unaware of. Any help is appreciated, i thought i may as well post before i start than break it and then ask!

I am definately going to do this, even if i bend a rod first time i start it, i want to get into it so its going to be done!

Thanks alot, Aid

timing is very important.
basically fit the whole lot including the belt but leave the cam wheels undone.
you will need a timing pin for the zetec which is put into the 10mm bolt hole at the front of the block.
a plate goes into the end of the cams and then you nip up the cam wheels.
you can do it by eye but its not so accurate.
when pistons 1 and 4 are fully up at 'top dead center' then you line the end of the cams up and tighten them up.
