why a renault box may i ask.;
the mtx75 used in the new focus/mondeo is basicly the same box as the mt75 used in the 4x4 cossies it uses the same size spline also so the cosworth clutch can be saved and bolt holes are the same

sorry forgot to add the x denotes the transverse mounting of the box that is the main difference to the mt75 cossie box

but why when the mtx box will fit why renault you could even fit the focus rs box with the atb diff already in it. that would be ideal. and it will bolt straight up

Cannot see a mtx75 coping with 350+bhp for too long as it's only rated at 258 lb ft of torque.

surely the renault box cant cope with near this much power! i have not seen many 2L turbos in a renault apart from the 21 turbo unless it was the new megan box.

The Renault UN1 transaxle is fitted to Esprit turbos and copes (just about) in them. There is an upgrade available consisting of a one piece input shaft to replace the standard two piece one that is thickened up where possible and copes with 420 ft lb of torque.

yeah just been looking at it now seems pretty compact and the drive shafts come out at more or less the right position. looks like a simple box design.

i have one of these, a renault transaxle in the back of one of my cars mated to a rover v8, and i have a cosworth > renault bellhousing brand new also - been thinking of selling it - but they do fetch a lot of money especially if sold with a mint box !!

ive had loads of 21 turbos and sold loads of boxes to peeps that are doin the same stuff u lot are up to , the most comon buyer of the un1 box is the gt40 replica mob but be warned the un1 box is maxed out at 300/320lb torque an will be happy to spilll its guts . the main prob is second gear shaft is to long and bends under stress . if i was u get on the gt40 replica sites ask them remember one lad saying the engine mounts and convertion plates were around 3/400 pounds and theres a bloke thatll build your box to take 500lb for around 4k in coventry good luck

jay

oh if u want a cheap box normally about 150.00 try 21turbo.com also there is a one piece input shaft svailable for around 1100.00
