Suspension problem Mk3 3i
Hello all
Got a problem on my 1983 XR3i which I have been restoring and is now getting pretty well sorted.
One problem I have never fully sorted is a clonk from the NSF wheel. Last year, about 1000 miles ago, I changed the lower arms and anti roll bar bushes, the front wheel bearings and the shock absorbers due to this clonk from the front..I genuinely thought it was the wheel bearing.
Anyway, the above has not sorted the problem and it still knocks on heavy bumps, OK on small ones.
The only thing I can think of now is either the top mounts (two bolt type) or the spring is weak. The car passed it's MOT no problems.
Also, I'm thinking it may be the front engine mount as there is a big gap between the lower cup and the rubber part....is this normal?
Anyone else had this or any ideas please.
Many thanks
Ant
