Default s2 rs turbo gearbox swap

my gearbox has sadly gon tits up, 5th gear seems to av obliterated itself, and therefore it think it mite b time to change the box!!! lol

now iv neva dun this job before, and i dnt exactly av the funds to pay sum1 to do it for me, so its dwn to me, and i dnt mind having a go at it myself

im a bit concerned as to exactly what im doing tho!! lol. haynes manual isnt great, so if any1 has got any hints or tip for this job it would b great. hard job, or just time consuming? im assuming its more a matter of brute force liftin new box on, n then just lots of bolts yeh?

im pickin up a replacement box 2moro mornin, so intend to fit it asap

cheers in advance

If you havent got a clue dont do it get someone who has a bit of knowledge as its not just a case of undoing bolts!!!

you have to take some some of abs off and you have to lower the engine so the box clears the inner wing.

shud av mentioned, its actually a rs engine transplanted into a 1.3 shell, so i avent got luxuries like abs

im comfortable with the idea of droppin the engine, thats just a matter of gettin car on axle stands, jackin the engine up with a block of wood between it and the sump and slowly lowerin til box clears inner wing yeh?

its anything else i mite need to kno, haynes manual is very thorough but slightly confusing i must say.

yeah especiallly if you have to do them on the floor,i put a new clutch in my car on saturday, and the only real trouble i had was putting the box back in as i was at a silly angle on the floor and couldnt really get comfy putting it in!, did eventually tho ! if you have access to a ramp it will help lots! main thing really to worry about are as you say just making sure you support the engine from tipping too much!
