The cutting out is normally just down to the co (mixture) being too lean and the idle adjuster in need of adjustment, anyone who knows their stuff and has a gas analyser should be able to sort it. Getting hot could be the fan not operating, thermostat not opening or more sinister i.e. head gasket..

HI,

check all hoses to and from turbo to inlet manifold inc hose from fuel metering
unit are tight, as you may have a slight vacuum leak, even if the dipstick and oil filler cap are not pushed, all the way home, will cause bad idle, also check the air sensor plate is not sticking, and your auxillary air device(valve is working correctly,if a bit rich check co% and also cold start valve is not leaking,
getting hot could just be another problem not related to idle?as if anything you
say is slightly rich, not weak, if co% is correct and idle speed and other sensors
beside above ie throtle switch, cts, and idle speed correct
it should be running ok, without going further into fuel related stuff pressure etc and function of system,

HI,

Have you checked the air sensor plate is not sticking, you have to find out know if its fuel or spark related causing your misfire, unless your lucky could be anything
in the system i have genuine workshop manual and test functions for rs,
but so much to check from a laymans terms, with out info or kit.
