Default Injector question??

Can an injector fail completely??

I have a cylinder not working (no1)
This is an N/A engine, symptons were intermitant misfire with fault code read as No1 cylinder missfire.

I have swapped coil packs and plugs and still the fault stays with no1.
When i unplug the injector plug on no1 there is no difference in engine rpm.If however you unplug any of the other injectors the difference is obvious.I've checked for 'power' at the injectors and all give a reading of 14v.Any ideas??

yes, possibly a faulty injector, either electrically or mechanically (stuck/blocked). Could possibly be the drive signal or wire fault too - try connecting a small 12V lightbulb into the injector connector and check to see if it lights or flashes when the engine is running.. if not then the drive or wire is faulty. If the lamp does light then the injector is at fault.

The pulse wire (common) does not seem to be working. The 12v fed is fine, that's why it's misfiring. The pulsed wire traces back to the ECU, i have check the common wire for continuety and the wire is fine.Does this indicate an ECU fault?

Just because you have continuity, it doesn't mean that the wire isn't damaged and, as a result, cannot pass the required current - check the wiring at each end where the pins are attached, and if it still looks OK, try running a duplicate wire to see if this gets rid of your problem.

If you still have any doubts with regards the injector on no.1, switch the injector to another cylinder and see if the problem moves with it.
