Default Engine is Fooked

well just had a phone call from my tunners grove garage, suppost to be having a new cam and lifters , and then they said u have major low oil pressure u need a bottom end rebuild and they said they wont rebuild a 1.6 its not worth it and they cant build a 1.9/1.6 rebuild as there booked for nearly a yar and dont have time for more re-builds, so they said they can get me a 2.1zvh running bout 250bhp from fiest frenzy for ฃ2500, im not sure wat to do.
Please can anyone advise me on wat to do either go 2.1zvh engine or get mine rebuilt by someone else or have a 1.9 bottom end wit a 1.6 head rebuild, wats best some rough prices would be good and wat would happen wit my old engine an all the part that are on it could they be re-used or wat

Sounds a bit suss to me m8,rebuilding a 1.6 is not worth it?? Its up to the customer whether or not its worth it. Its strange how they dont have time for a rebuild, which tbh takes no time at all on a cvh but hey have the time to locate, sell and fit you a zvh

is/was the engine showing n e signs of low oil pressure ie knocking etc b4!

reason I ask is if NOT it's not a too big or expensive job to replace oil pump etc

Well to be honest, it's up to the customer to decide if it's worth rebuilding a 1600 or not!!! The 1600 cvh is not limited to the amount of power it can produce just because it's a 1600....

if oil pump id eorn out it may decrease the pressure also. The bottom end just needs new bearings, thats all. you could actually do it yourself. not to hard.

Bring me the motor and I will help yah. . .
I live in Germany. LOL

Andy's (the one on RS7 spokes) will be roughly 230bhp when completely set up.

Mine is a little bit special and has a lot done to it in preperation for a "modest" power increase! Stu at Motorsport Developments also built mine and are currently building my Dad's second engine. Stu and Kenny (Stu's business partner) won't sell you something you don't need and will advise yopu on your best course of action.

The 1900 is not any stronger than the 1600 mate.

the cam and followers would get knocked out in no time if you had low oil pressure so that is probably the cause of the cam noise also if you have low oil pressure the hydrolic followers wont open properly which make them noisey. you may just need the oil pump and when the followers have full oil pressure they might quieten down again could be wurth a try as the oil pump is easy to change
