i'm having problems with my xr2i, when driving it wont rev past 4000rpm, it does but really strugles, its like a flat spot, sitting still it'll rev to the limiter,it's really annoying, any help will be great.

 

sound like an ignition fault.
it can rev on the spot because there is no engine load.
could be weak spark (check plugs, leads and dizzy).
id check all this first
maybe it just needs a proper service, it can make the world of difference.

i changed the plugs and leads in january along with head gasket, valve seals etc, and all the filters, it's been doing it for about6 weeks.
