I have an escort s2 and im pretty sure i have problems with my box or clutch it keeps poppin out of reverse and jerks to a stop as if the hand brake is on but isnt and whines very loudly in all forward gears gettin faster as the car does and when you take your foot off the accelerater to decellerate it makes a screamy kinda grindin noise esspecialy in 2nd gear im not entirly sure what clutch it has or even if its up rated i hope so as the power is upto 200+ but the gearbox is standard except for the sliper any help would be SO appriciated thanks

 

yeah mate the gearbox is dead if you need a good box go to gearbox man i think hes on here some where or look at www.gearboxman.co.uk

 

i have the same problem with my xr2i, 1st and 2nd make a grinding noise when the clutch is at biting point, i'm gonna put a new box i cos it does my head in.
