Default Misfire on 2wd cosworth

Hello people hopefully you can help me out with a small annoying problem I have!

I bought a non-running sapphire about a month ago.

Got it running after sorting the alarm.

To begin with it ran very rough. So I replaced the:
Dizzy cap
rotor arm
Plugs
phase sensor
Brown and blue sensor.

Now the problem which remains is when at idle and you go to rev it, it faulters and misses before it picks up

What does this sound likeis causing the prob?
Leads (don't look too heathly)?
TPS?
IGN AMP?

Anything else???

Just for the record its running greens, 3bar, collins chip.

Does have a bit of black smoke but I'm hoping this will sort itself once the misfire has been sorted.

Anybody help??

Thanks
Stewart

I had a similar problem with my 3 door. I found that the dizzy was knackered ,when i went to set up the gap on my new phase sensor. The dizzy was so worn it was slopping all over the place. You say you,ve fitted a new phase sensor so hopefully you would have noticed any slack in your dizzy when you gapped it.

I will try cleaning the crank sensor and checking the gap. Thanks.

The dizzy had a bit of play but it didn't seem excessive.

Any other ideas for me to go at tomorrow.

Thanks
Stew

Sounds like it might be the TPS.

Hi,

After a long no running, may be water in fuel on the reservoir.
Change your fuel.

Regards.

Its was the leads!! The previous owner had fitted the wrong type (the connection at the dizzy cap was different to standard). Must have been a bad connection.

Many thanks to Strut Brace for sending me a set of standard leads which work a treat
