Rear Disc Conversion
Ive just done a rear disc conversion to my mk4 cab, thing is since ive done it the brake pedal is crap, oh we also changed the master cylinder, it has taken a few days bleeding and copiuos amounts of brake fluid to get a semi sensible pedal back, but it is still not right. would this be because of it now having calipers on the back.
The kit was bought complete from Burton Power.
Somebody has also sugested that a brake bias valve would help. Has anybody else encountered problems doing this conversion ??, any ideas would be most greatful.

i'd imagine the rear calipers are mounted at a fair angle from the horizontal - this makes the bleed nipple drilling nowhere near the top of the piston bore, which allows a bubble of air to accumulate behind the piston.
Dismount the calipers whilst you bleed in a horizontal position - as if they were mounted at the top of the disc, directly above the hub. This will allow all the air to escape from the piston bore.

Easiest/safest way i've found, is to actually only remove one fixing bolt, loosen the other and pivot the caliper round so it is horizontal.. pinch up the one fixing bolt to hold caliper in position - the disc stays between the pads that way, so nothing goes amiss
