Default Clutch cable regulator problems - Escort Coss.

Clutch regulator failed yesderday on special stage, it is it's 3rd failure in short time. I was suggested there may be wrong clutch cable? Any other ideas? Is there some budget way to do manual adjustment conversion?
Please help, we lost a lot of time and some prizes in a Subaru rally :-(

But still we got one

Graham Goode Racing offers a manual conversion kit. Part number GGR434. This is for a LHD car. Cost Ł150. www.grahamgoode.com

I was thinking about that one but it seems not very popular. So I wonder if everybody uses just stock setup? I have no idea why it fails every few km's in my Esc Coss. I'm thinking about manufacturing regulator parts from metal...
