low boost stg1 saff cos
hi people been having low boost issues for quite some time i havent driven it hard for donkeys years. ive eventually got around to doing something about it. ive tested the base lift on the 31 actuator its running and it starts to open the waste gate at 0.4 psi. from what ive read it should be 0.8 is this where im loosing boost pressure and is this why i cant get the revs up to more than 5.500 rpm i dont have a boost gauge doooow. ive done and checked all the usual guff re wire fuel pump ignition etc thanks

If it won't rev past 5500 then there are other issues other than a lack of boost!
Is the air filter clean? Plugs new and correct gap - circa 0.75mm should be ok here, maybe a bit more if you have platinum plugs.
Check the cam timing including the dizzy position. Gaps on phase sensor and CPS should be .6 to 1mm IIRC.
Does the Amal valve click when you switch the ignition on?
who's stage 1 is it?

thanks for the reply chap.in short yes ive done all them and more. had to change ecu last winter because of another issue self inflicted. it revs out to about five and half nearly six the base lift on the waste gate actuator should be 8psi my 31 is starting to operate at just under 4psi so im loosing boost pressure by half. theres no mis fires its clean all way through. i have a ggr racing one coming another 31 these are well known for springs giong week it is twenty year old.i wounder what the bes way to check for boost leak is with an airline may be i could take out the dump valve make a bung drill a hole through it and put my coolant pressure tester on it and pump it up or start reading the work shop manual. ther is hissing noise when im ecselerating theres nothing obvious the dump valve is good. may be the hissing is the boost going past the waste gate flap. if royalmail pull there finger out i could find out today

oh yeh got the best chip from the best people md motorsport blackpool. stuart is such a pro. i had ecu probs last year he took the time to call me. people use the term legand very loosly but in stuarts case its defo not COSSIE GOD.

update the new ggr 31 actuator came its got different part numbers on it. on there site it does say its a replacment for mine the new one is a 9psi 31.took for a blast fook me she,s back propper boost.i stopped on the side of the road and drove back with the dump valve of my wifes garden shears the wooden handle is just the right size for the dump valve pipe and its even better with it of even got waste gate chatter now and supper aggresive aceleration but still no cigar on the revs getting anywhere near the red must just the way its been set up
