s1 gearbox

1800 diesel gearbox in my s1, im only doing 65mph @ 3000rpm

what gearbox can i put in to make speed higher @ 3000rpm?
ive got a s2 box but it dosnt fit, help

You may want to try something like a ghia gearbox as they are more for cruising in, diesel is all low end

Maybe a 1600i box would also be ok ?

If I remember well a S2 box will give 75 mph at 3200 rpm.
What's wrong with a S1 box?

S2 box doesn't fit? The clutch has a different size, maybe it is a matter of changing the flywheel too, than you also have the opportunity to use a 220 mm clutch.

S2 box has the wrong type left casing to accomodate the S1 style gearbox mount.

all you do is put the s2 clutch and fly wheel on then pull the ends of the s2 and s1 boxes off and swap em. thats what i`ve done. now ive got an s2 box in my s1. only other thing is you need the s2 inkage too.
