main beam and dipped lights issue.
Hi everyone im a new member from stoke apologies if I have posted on the wrong place.
I have recently brought a mk4 escort 1.1 which has full rs engine and running gear etc.
surprisingly all the electrics are in good working order except a real annoying problem with the lights, when I turn on the lights side lights work fine but dipped headlights go straight to full beam (can hear the blue relay under dash click) flick the stalk for full beam and it goes back to side lights again ?
I have used the search function on here and taken advice from other threads but still no joy. I'm thinking the blue relay is faulty or the light stalk but would really appreciate any advice/views. I hope this makes sense.

Mine done something similar when I first bought it.
if I put sidelights on the offside main beam would come on.
I traced mine to 2 missing relays in the fusebox, I replaced them and everything worked again, I think it was the small white one for the dim/dip

I got a auto Electrician in now it' driving me nuts he has come to have a quick look its booked in after his holiday I don' like giving up but I think I may do more harm. i will post the cause in case anyone else is suffering. cheers
