Mk4 Mondeo Powershift gearbox damage
Hi newbie here, glad to be onboard. I had the clutch replaced on my mk 4 mondeo powershift auto estate last year. Yesterday I had the oil and filter done in the gearbox. The filter was heavily contaminated with swarf. Is it possible that when the clutch broke, it contaminated the oil filter in the gearbox, or might there be internal gearbox damage. Car drives fine, bit jerky at low speed. The oil seal on the crankshaft rear was replaced as it was leaking. Any suggestions/thoughts gratefully received

Defo an option- would it not be worth trying getting the transmission control module software updated? I realise though that this getrag Box is very troublesome and expensive if it goes wrong

Don't know too much about them but a friend who does mobile diagnostics says the power shift box is very troublesome and expensive to repair.
If there's swarf been through it it won't have done it any favours so if it's still going ok then it might be an idea to get rid now.
If it's a wet clutch I.e in the gearbox then possibly it's failure has caused the swarf but metal floating around won't help it any.
What does a second hand box cost from a damaged car?

A new Box is 2700 plus vat. Probably need to add a few hundred to fit. A full rebuild would be around that figure I'd imagine. Always a risk with a second hand Box it's got issues as well. Only other thing of note is this oil and filter change was the first done in its 7 years. Should really have been done after 3 years or 35,000 miles
