rebuilding my front diff today. pulled the pinion off the diff housing and it looks like where i was expecting to find the ratio stamped it has been sanded off and etched with the number 8484.

does anyone have any idea why this would have been done ??

yes its the correct ratio, but the standard ford ones are stamped 3.62 and the ford logo. its obviously been replaced at some point.

 

I can't remember if they are stamped tbh, its along time since I did a front, the rear is defo penned on and not stamped, don't even think the Ford logo is on the rears, no one else makes the std front cwp other than Ford.

 

I have a spare front diff that came off my car, it has done 32,000 miles. I replaced with a thick wall quaife, let me know if you need it? What is a front diff worth?
