Default Mondeo tddi - cutting out!

Hi, I'm currently having a problem with my 2001 mondeo tddi, the problem started one evening driving home when the car decided to cut out, i tried to start the car but just turned over and over and failed to start, I knew these tddi's suffered problems with the electronic lift pump underneath the car so I decided to give that a few hits with the wheel brace and tried to start the car, it fired up straight away but didn't get far down the road before it cut out again, so I got my mate to tow me home, thinking it would be a easy fix and just the lift pump I ordered one, I fitted the pump and it fired up so I left it idle for a while then took it out for a drive unfortunately it kept cutting out again after some deliberation about the new pump I had fitted being noisy and felt as if it was jumping slightly I ordered another more expensive pump I then fitted that one this one sounds much smoother and less noise but the car is still cutting out, I have swapped the fuel lift pump relay for a known good one with still no joy I have also replaced the fuel filter, I plugged it in to see if it picked up any faults and it came up with p1665 (pump communication problem and a crank shaft position sensor fault, the problem I have with this is the fault now is so random and now when it does cut out all I have to do is turn ignition off and back on whilst driving and away it goes again.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Rich.

My old tddi did this, turned out to be a loose wire in the injector pump wiring plug!

Give the wiring plug and loom a wiggle and see if it cuts out.

RichieST you were right, gave the loom a wiggle where it plugged into the fuel pump and low and behold it cut out, so disconnected it and found a broken wire. Thank you for the advise much appreciated
